EpicDuel is a player-vs-player MMO that plays in your web browser, which is acquired by Artix recently(Link: Artix Acquires Epicduel). Explore, chat, battle, earn credits, and gear up with weapons, armor and battle items.

Balance issues or bad player habits?

By Scott Reese in the official forum

I've noticed that a lot of players tend to get very frustrated because so-and-so is 'overpowered and impossible to beat'. In my opinion, that's not the case; there are a lot more problems with players balancing their characters rather than the game being imbalanced (though game imbalances are always possible). The issue is one of sustainability in a fight: the ability to remain effect for longer periods of time. So with that in mind, I've come up with a few reasons why players might have difficulty. Feel free to add to the list and correct me if I'm wrong.

1. Low life. This is without a doubt the biggest reason a player is easy to beat, even if they have massive damage resistance. One good debuff build can weaken that damage resistance and then their life pool offers no cushion against destructive attacks, not to mention Rage or Critical Strikes.

2. Low stats. Whether its low Strength, Dex, Tech, or (most frequently) Support, having an extremely low attribute presents a weakness in some form. With Dex and Tech its a more pronounced weakness; you can be hit pretty hard if your damage resistance is low. With Support, you won't Rage as much and you're more likely to be critted.

3. Immediate energy drain. A very bad habit indeed. Most players I encounter use their entire energy pool in the first two or three rounds. After that they have no energy to perform special attacks and aren't as effective anymore. Whatever damage they dealt in those first two or three rounds can be easily negated with a buff or a heal.

4. One or two hit kill builds. Mercs and Bounty Hunters are really falling into this rut right now. Mercs buff themselves with Field Commander and then try to Berzerk. Bounty Hunters Smokescreen their opponent and then throw a Stun Grenade. Both of these can be effective, but can also be pretty pathetic against certain players.
