Introduction
Battle Edge II – The EdgeWalkers, is the much anticipated sequel to the original facebook application, BattleEdge. The game is a blast! BattleEdge II took all the concepts of the beloved original and built upon them making a live player verses player RPG masterpiece.
Graphix
The artwork for BEII is absolutely phenomenal… from the male and female player avatars to the stunning Monsters and Creatures that you meet on the games out of town map. Thieves, Demons, Harpy’s, Dragons! There are 20 separate masterfully designed armor sets for both male and female characters and dozens of new and exciting weapons and shields that will surely impress. All of the artwork is just amazing.
Gameplay
The physics of the game are easy to learn, but hard to master. The battle interface is very simple. Players are given the choice between 3 separate Fighting Styles. They may either choose to fight with one powerful 2-handed weapon, Duel weapons, or they may fight with a primary weapon and a shield. Each style has its strengths and weaknesses.
In the beginning of the game the players enter the arena and may choose to either challenge other players live to 1v1 combat, they may fight computer-controlled prisoners OR they may join in multi-player “Red vs. Blue” style team battles. Once in a fight the player chooses two out of five places on their character to defend (unless they have a shield and they may choose 3 places instead of 2) and they choose one (or 2 if they choose to fight with duels) place on their opponents character to attack. Then the player clicks the Attack button in the middle of the battle screen. Once both parties choose their defense and attacks, they trade damage until one or both parties fall. Experience and silver is given out and the players go to the temple to heal and prepare for their next battle.
Sounds simple enough, BUT the game has a great selection of new spells and items that can change the tide of battle at any given moment. Players now have a massive new selection of Masteries, spells, weapons, armors and items to consider when battling, making BEII one of the most diverse games in its class.
Player Interaction
The heart of BE is the players and the pvp action and interaction is unmatched on any game of its class. There are more than 20 different clans that players may join AND now players may pay to create their very own clans that they may run, recruit new members and grow into an unstoppable force in the game! The wonderful amount of player interaction is what keeps people playing BattleEdge.
Overall/Addictiveness
You have not played an RPG this addictive, entertaining and fun. There’s so much more to say, but not enough room to put it in this review. Just go there and play. You will love the people, the community and the game itself. Hope to see ya soon in the exciting city of Edge. ;)
